Man held for murdering daughter, honour killing suspected

In a suspected case of honour killing, a man has been arrested for allegedly killing his 16-year-old daughter who was having an affair with a youth here, police said today.

The girl, Neeraj, and Rahul (21) were in a relationship to which her family objected. Her charred body was found in a field here on December 21, Circle Officer Alley Hasan said.

According to police, she was strangulated to death and the body set afire.

Later, her family members lodged a complaint against Rahul accusing him of the girl's murder following which police took up a probe that revealed her father and two others killed her, Hasan said.
 

The girl's father, Rukam Singh, was yesterday arrested while two other accused -- her uncle Mahendra Singh and one Bahadur Singh -- are absconding, he said.
