A man arrested in connection of a robbery case allegedly tried to commit suicide in the lock-up of South East Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin police station's last night, police said today.
The alleged thief, identified as Salman, was saved by a police head constable who saw him hanging from the grill of the lock-up. The policeman raised an alarm, opened the gate of the lock-up and rescued Salman.
"He was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where he is recuperating and his condition is stated to be out of danger. He was unconscious for a couple of hours but later gained consciousness", said a police official.

Police found Salman had used the sheet kept for inmates inside the lock-up to hang himself.
A case under appropriate sections of the IPC has been registered at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station by the police who are probing the cause behind Salman's step.
Investigators have questioned Salman in this regard but he has not given any information so far. His family members have been informed about the incident, police said.
