CISF officials have nabbed a housekeeping staff posted at a Delhi Metro for allegedly stealing wallet and other belongings of a traveller.

Officials said the incident occurred yesterday around 12 noon at the Chandani Chowk Metro Station when a Cuttack resident Sumantra Dutta (32) reported to the station controller that his wallet containing Rs 1,600 cash, ATM card, PAN card and airline tickets were stolen, while he was paying for using the toilet at the station premises.

The CISF team on duty swung into action and took Das for CCTV footage identification after which the alleged culprit was identified as one Naresh Kumar (25), working as housekeeping staff at the facility.

Soon after, an official of the paramilitary force intelligence squad rushed outside the station and nabbed Kumar who was present in the market.

"During the course of enquiry, Kumar denied the charges initially but later confessed that he took the wallet and revealed that after taking the money from the wallet, he dumped it and the documents outside the station premises.

"Later, CISF personnel retrieved the dumped wallet and documents and handed it over to station controller who restored the items to Dutta," a senior force official said.
