A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court here for kidnapping and killing a class VII student for ransom five years ago.
Special District Judge DPN Singh yesterday heard both the sides and sentenced Pradip to life imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 1.10 lakh on him.
Paras was kidnapped while he was returning from school on November 20, 2009 and later his father received a demand of Rs five lakh for the release of the child, prosecution said.

As the father failed to meet the demand, the boy was murdered and his body was found from Ghazipur.
A case was registered and charge sheet was filed against six persons.
However, five other accused were acquitted for lack of evidence.
