The Old Delhi area of Shahjahanabad has nearly 525 havelis that were constructed in the 19th and 20th century. These havelis, having Hindu, Mughal, British and European art influences, are in a pathetic condition, Goel said.
"This heritage needs to be saved from unauthorised construction, encroachments and traffic jams," Goel said adding that he had met the Union Tourism and Culture Minister and Lt Governor of Delhi for it protection and preservation.
The event titled 'Save Heritage-Save Chandni Chowk' is expected to be attended by Union Minister Jitendra Singh and other dignitaries, he added.
