Maximum temperatures across Punjab and Haryana rose a few notches above normal today in the absence of any rainfall across the two neighbouring states.
The Union Territory of Chandigarh registered a high of 35.8 degrees Celsius, which was three notches above normal, local MeT office sources said.
In Punjab, Amritsar and Patiala saw the mercury settling at 35.6 and 35.1 degrees, respectively, which represented a rise of two degrees for each. Ludhiana recorded a maximum of 34.9 degrees.

Ambala in Haryana recorded a high of 35.6 degrees, up three degrees above normal, while Hisar settled at 34.5 degrees. The maximum in Bhiwani was at 35 degrees.
The forecast is for light to moderate rainfall at isolated places across the two states in the coming 24 hours.
