Mercury settles at normal level in Punjab, Haryana

Maxmimum temperature today remained at normal levels in Punjab and Haryana even as a few places in both the states have received light showers.

Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a maximum at 32.5 deg Celsius, while the city was drenched with 26.6 mm of rain.

Ambala in Haryana had a high of 34 deg C and it received rainfall of 5.9 mm.

Among other places in Haryana, Bhiwani, Hisar and Narnaul recorded a high of 36.2 deg C, 35.7 deg C and 31 deg C respectively.

In Punjab, Ludhiana was lashed with 12 mm of rain and mercury settled at 34 deg Celsius. Amritsar and Patiala had a maximum of 34.2 deg C and 33.6 deg C respectively.
 

Met in its forecast said light to moderate rain may occur at a few places in Punjab and Haryana in next 24 hours.
