Minor girl killed, her brother injured in road mishap

A nine-year-old girl was killed and her seven-year-old brother was critically injured after they were hit by a loading-rickshaw here today, police said.

The siblings were returning home after attending an Independence Day function in their school when the incident took place at Lalgate area here, they said.

"The girl-- Zithra Ali Asgar Shaikh was killed on the spot, while her brother Murtuza Ali sustained critical injuries when a loading-rickshaw hit them," Police Sub-Inspector Mitesh Salunke of Lalgate police station told PTI.

The accused driver Sitaram Rajput was arrested for causing death by negligence. He has been booked for rash driving, he added.
 

Murtuza was admitted to a nearby hospital, Salunke said adding that further investigation into the case is on.
