A five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually molested by a youth in Sahdullahnagar area here, police said today.
The incident happened yesterday when the accused, identified as Kapil Dev, lured and convinced the minor to accompany him to a secluded place, Superintendent of Police Lalsahab Yadav said.
The victim had come to attend a marriage function late last night, he said.
The accused raped her and fled from the spot afterwards. The victim narrated the incident upon returning to her parents, Yadav said.
The girl has been referred to Gonda for treatment, adding the accused has been arrested and the matter is under investigation.
