Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section displayed a mixed trend at the local truck transport market in the national capital today with rates for Mumbai and Kolkata rising on pick up in cargo movements after transporters called-off their 5-day-long strike yesterday.

However, freights for Jaipur and Chandigarh declined on easy availability of trucks.

The strike was called off yesterday after a marathon meeting between agitating apex truckers body AIMTC and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari with the government assuring transporters to look into their demands.

Delhi to Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru freight rates rose by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 28,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 60,000, respectively.

On the other hand, capital to Jaipur, Chandigarh and Gwalior freight rates were down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 14,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 13,000, respectively.
