The decision of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) to give complete exemption from property tax on heritage buildings is historic, Rajya Sabha MP and former Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said today.
"We had been struggling for this for many years and on December 20, 2013 as president of Delhi BJP, with leaders of all three corporations, we had collectively taken a decision to waive off tax on heritage properties," Goel said in a statement.
The decision is historic, he said.

Goel said like North Delhi Municipal Corporation, south Delhi and east Delhi municipal corporations should also consider waiving off tax on heritage buildings and properties.
This will encourage heritage conservation in the city, he said.
"Shahjahanabad Development Board and Archaeological Survey of India have completely failed in fulfilling its responsibilities," Goel alleged.
