No truth in information about 7 armed suspects: SSP

There was no truth in the information about sighting of seven armed men moving in a "suspicious" manner in Khojewal near here, a top police official said today as he claimed the information provider was not of "sound mental health".

However, SSP Gurdaspur Jagdip Singh Hundal said police was on high alert even though nothing suspicious was found in a combing operation by a team led by Punjab DIG (Border Range) Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh.

SSP said ex-serviceman Daulat Ram who had made the claim about sighting of armed persons was not of sound mental health.

Punjab police had conducted the combing operation Khojewal village here after Ram claimed sighting of seven armed men moving in a "suspicious" manner in the area.
