A 29-year-old man, alleged to be a member of Manjit Mahal gang and involved in daylight murder of a property dealer in Uttam Nagar on November 8, has been arrested, police said today.
Punit Yadav was arrested by Crime Branch sleuths from Dwarka Sector 13 on November 28 after laying a trap on getting specific inputs, and an automatic pistol and live rounds were recovered from him, Joint Commissioner of Police, Ravindra Yadav said.
"During interrogation, he admitted that he along with his associate Sombir had gunned down property dealer Bijender in Uttam Nagar on November 8, over dispute of ownership of a vacant plot of land," said the officer.

He also revealed that his aides Praveen, Henry, Sushil and Sombir were allegedly involved in land-grabbing under the cover of property dealing business in the area.
According to police, they had spotted an unclaimed piece of land in C-Block of Bhagwati Garden. When they started construction on it, Bijender also laid his claim and warned them to keep off citing his closeness with the local MLA.
Bijender was in turn threatened by the gang on several occasions but he forcibly constructed a wall on the plot. Following which, the accused shot him dead near his house on November 8, the officer said.
Yadav is alleged to be a close associate of dreaded criminal Nafe Singh alias Mantri of Majeet Mahal gang, which is active in southwest Delhi.
He allegedly joined the gang to earn easy and quick money and to assert influence in the area, police said.
