One carrying arms nabbed along Assam-Meghalaya border

A 30-year-old man carrying arms and ammunition has been arrested along Assam-Meghalaya border in Assam's Kamrup (Metro) district today.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the police and CRPF nabbed the man from Noonmati village in the district this morning, a police spokesman said.

The person has been identified as Ariston Ronghang and four SBML guns, three rounds of ammunitions and some gun making tools have been recovered from his possession.

An FIR has been filed against the person and it was yet to be ascertained whether he belonged to any particular outfit, the spokesman added.
