A man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a watchman of an old church in Banda district in an inebriated condition, police said today.
The miscreant, identified as Chandan, under the influence of liquor, tried to force the watchman of the church on Chilla road to open the gate and let him in, last night, police said.
They said when the victim did not relent, the accused beat him up, in front of the father of the church who came out on hearing the noise.
A case has been lodged on the complaint of the father, police said.
