One unidentified man was injured in a bus accident near the Moolchand Flyover on south Delhi's Ring Road this evening.

"We received a call at 4:53 PM, and it was the driver himself who had called after the mishap. The accident took place below the Moolchand Flyover," police said.

The driver of the low-floor red-coloured Delhi Transport Corporation bus, Krishan Kumar, 42, claimed the "the man was drunk and sitting on the side of the street and suddenly started crossing the street."

"Since there were fewer cars today, due to odd-even rule, he escaped the speeding cars but came and bumped into our bus, just below the driver's seat side. I immediately applied the brake but part of his one foot came under the wheel," Kumar said.

"I stopped my bus, and then called up 100 (Police helpline) and meanwhile some good Samaritans helped take the injured man to hospital in an auto," the driver claimed.

Police said a case under sections 279 and 337 of the IPC has been registered and further investigation is on.

Meanwhile, the bus has been seized by police and is currently kept in front of a 'mohalla chowki' at Lajpat Nagar -III colony, and further details are awaited.

The vehicle on DTC Route No 724 was coming from Uttam Nagar and going towards Nehru Place.

The presence of a DTC bus in a residential area aroused much curiosity among the residents.
