Over 30 per cent rise in Airport Metro ridership: Govt

Functioning of Airport Metro Express Line has significantly improved since its take over by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation from Delhi Airport Metro Express Limited in July 2013, Lok Sabha was told today.

The average monthly ridership of the Airport Metro Line has increased by 30.40 per cent since July 2013 when DMRC took over the line, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said in a written reply.

He said operating loss has reduced from Rs 345.25 lakhs in July 2013 to monthly average of Rs 82.09 lakhs during April-June 2014.

The minister said that fares of Airport Metro Express Line have been reduced by about 40 per cent for various trips with effect from July 24.
