A total of 4,202 on-duty personnel of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles have lost their lives in the last three years due to non-combat reasons, the government informed Parliament today.
"As per information received from CAPFs and the Assam Rifles, 4,202 personnel died during service and on duty due to non-combat causes during the last three years and current year up to January, 2018," Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
He added that the total ground strength, till January 31 this year, of these forces is 9,17,842 men and women across various ranks.
