The Welfare Party of India (WPI) today said the performance of the BJP governments at the Centre and in Rajasthan was "very poor" and alleged that the ruling dispensations were favouring only the corporate sector.

At a party meeting here, its national president Kasim Rasool Iliyas said the Modi government at the Centre had failed in its one-year rule and that it was giving benefit only to the corporate sector.

"The Centre is eliminating subsidy for the common man on one hand and increasing tax burden on them on the other," Iliyas said.

"There are attacks on churches, 'surya namaskar' is being imposed on all students in schools, and education is being communalised," he said, "Rights of labourers are being infringed upon and minorities are being attacked."

WPI organising secretary Mohmmed Najimudden said the party was running a nationwide movement against "corporate imperialism, communalism, fascism, and corruption".

Later, a delegation of WPI went to submit a memorandum at the Chief Minister's Office but they were denied entry into the Civil Lines area housing government offices, WPI media secretary Sayed Nasir Hasan said.
