To avoid repeat of any untoward incident similar to that during Left parties' march to the state secretariat last month, the Kolkata Police is making foolproof arrangements for tomorrow's Left rally to Lalbazar.

With top police officers of Deputy Commissioner rank posted at crucial points of the rally's route, Kolkata Police would have Radio Flying Squads (RFS) and Heavy Radio Flying Squads (HRFS) ready to keep a check on the situation tomorrow, a senior officer of the force told reporters here.

"All arrangements have been made keeping in mind tomorrow's rally. We are not taking any chances and do not want any repeat of August 28," the officer said.

Several Left leaders including CPI-M politburo member Biman Bose were seriously injured during a clash between Left Front supporters and policemen during August 28's rally called by Krishak Sabha, the agricultural front of the CPI-M.

In fact, four Left Front leaders today held a meeting with Kolkata Police Special Additional and Joint Commissioner of Police (HQ) Rajeev Mishra regarding tomorrow's march to Lalbazar, the headquarters of the force.

Besides, water cannons, tear gas would also be there, he said.

The rally likely to move from three crucial points in the city towards the Kolkata Police headquarters.

One likely to start from Dharmatala Y channel and move via Bentick Street to reach Lalbazar, the other two may initiate from Rani Rashmoni Avenue and College Square.

"We are expecting around 5,000 Left supporters tomorrow. We are going to stop them well before the rallies reach Lalbazar and our DCs will escort them till here to help them submit their deputation," the IPS said.

The Left Front's tomorrow's rally was called to protest against the alleged police bias in favour of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
