Press Trust of India Kolkata
Police today solved an

year-old theft case at a city jewellery shop and recovered gold worth over Rs 10 lakh besides arresting the culprits.

A senior police officer said one kg of gold was seized from Karan Raika, the driver of the jewellery shop owner. Both Karan and his associate Naresh Raika were arrested.

The owner of the jewellery shop on Rabindra Sarani had lodged a complaint with the police last September against Karan for stealing gold bar weighing one KG.

The police was able to arrest the man in June this year and recovered about 350 gm of gold stolen from the shop, he added.

After interrogating, Naresh was nabbed from a hideout yesterday in northern part of the city but the rest of the gold was not with him, the officer said.

"On interrogating Naresh revealed that the rest of the gold (650gm) was with a relative in Rajasthan's Pali district. We acted immediately and the rest of the stolen gold was recovered," the police officer said.
