Demonstrations and candle light vigils were held here in protest against the rape of a five-year-old girl, with the protestors demanding death penalty to the accused and wishing speedy recovery of the victim.
Students of Heritage School in Sainik Colony area of the city held a candle light assembly as a mark of protest against the rape of minor girl by her 22-year-old neighbour.
They demanded severe punishment, including death penalty to the accused as they blamed the police for failure to take action in this case.

Led by their leader H R Sharma, about 50 activists of Bharatiya Chetna Party held a separate protest demonstration against the UPA government and demanded resignation of Delhi Police Commissioner.
The party activists also demanded capital punishment to the accused.
The girl was brutally raped and assaulted allegedly by her neighbour Manoj Kumar while being held captive and starved for two days.
However, Kumar was arrested from his in-laws' house in Muzaffarpur in Bihar today.
