The Punjab government will oppose the wealth tax on farmers tooth and nail to safeguard their interest, Cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia said here today.
The decision to levy wealth tax on farmers whose land falls with in 8-km of municipal limits will deal a severe blow to them, he said.
Farmers in Punjab are already reeling under a debt of Rs 33,000 crore, Majithia told a public meeting here.
