Punjab to take stringent measures against illegal hoardings

Press Trust of India Ludhiana

The state cabinet has already given nod to a new advertisement policy under which electronic bill boards would be put across the state, he told reporters here.

He said the cabinet would also soon approve a law which will make the practice of putting up illegal hoardings under criminal provisions.

The Punjab Government has also decided to widen all the roads along the canals in the state with a view to provide better commuting facilities especially to rural commuters, he said, adding that he has asked authorities to identify such important routes.

Badal said he had issued directions for expediting work on Ropar-Neelon-Doraha canal-side and to conclude the project within stipulated time period besides maintaining the quality of work.

Punjab would be the only state in the country that would have its 90 per cent National Highways with four lane roads network by next year, Badal said.
