Former Union minister D Purandeswari today met senior BJP leader L K Advani, amid indications that she would join the principal opposition party shortly.

BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said Purandeswari, who is the daughter of TDP founder late N T Rama Rao, met Advani to seek his blessings.

However, Purandeswari, who was elected on a Congress ticket from Visakhapatnam in Seemandhra region, did not take any questions from the media after the meeting.

The former minister had yesterday said the situation was such that a painful decision has to be taken.

Though she claimed there would not be any conditions from her side, Purandeswari said that she wished to contest from the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency.

"I have come here to share my decision. I have spoken to all. I am not exerting pressure on anybody to be with me and come with me. I have left it to them. The situation is such that we have to take a painful decision," she had told reporters.
