"Despite talent in government schools, the level of education is not satisfactory and therefore the government will soon take steps for improving it," Akhilesh said.

Akhilesh, who was speaking after distributing cheques to girls from minority community under a state-sponsored scheme, termed education a key parameter for all-round development of the state besides infrastructure development.

Noting that women in the state, especially those belonging to the minority community, were lagging behind in the field education, Akhilesh said government's newly-launched scheme is aimed at addressing the problem.

Meanwhile, the women wing of BJP took out a protest march against the state government for its decision to cover only girls from minority community under the scheme.

The activists also tried to gherao the Chief Minister's residence, but were detained and later released by police.
