Rains lash parts of Pb, Hry

Rains lashed parts of Punjab and Haryana today, bringing relief to people from humid weather conditions.

Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, received 16.4 mm rainfall, with the showers inundating roads and low-lying areas and causing traffic jams at various places.

The city recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7 degree Celsius, a meteorological department report said.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 36.2 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 35.2 and 34.5 degrees Celsius respectively.

Ludhiana recorded 17 mm rainfall, while Patiala received 1 mm rainfall.

In the neighbouring state of Haryana, Ambala and Bhiwani recorded maximum temperatures of 35.5 and 33.8 degrees Celsius respectively.

 

Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul recorded a high of 35, 34 and 28.5 degrees Celsius and received 16 mm, 0.8 mm and 19 mm rainfall respectively.

The Met department has forecast heavy rains during the next 24 hours at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana.
