Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha, Ramesh Chand Meena today accused the state government of "conspiring" to benefit private companies in the name of disinvestment of some units of power plants.
He alleged the move was aimed at transferring state-run power plant units to private sector for personal gains. He said Congress will raise this issue in the Budget session of the Assembly and launch protest all over the state.
"The state Cabinet yesterday approved disinvestment of units of Kalisindh and Chhabra power plants. The move is aimed at benefiting a group which is already operating a power plant in Kawai near Baran," Menna said.

"The decision is against the interest of the state. From the road to the Assembly, we will hold agitation and hunger strike but will not let the government privatise the units at any cost," he said.
The debt of power companies has increased due to state government's mismanagement. Transmission and distribution losses have gone up, Meena alleged.
"If you look at the real situation, the T&D losses are nearly 40-45 per cent across the state. In Dholpur, it is 65 per cent and 50 per cent in Jhalawar. The state government is misleading people on various facts which need to be clarified," the Congress leader said.
He alleged that the losses of power companies in the state have increased to nearly Rs 1 lakh crore which was Rs 66,000 crore in November 2013 when the Congress government completed its tenure.
Meena also claimed that several BJP MLAs have expressed their unhappiness over the decision of the government but they cannot come out in the open.
