A 35-year-old man, arrested on the charge of abducting and raping a minor girl, hanged himself inside the lock-up at Chaklasi police station in Nadiad tehsil of Kheda district of Gujarat, police said.
Dinesh Jhala, the accused, hanged himself from ventilator grill using his shirt during the night, police said.
"It came to the attention of in-duty policeman this morning. The incident was captured by CCTV camera outside the lock-up," said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nadiad division, H A Rathod.

Jhala, resident of Palaiya village of Nadiad, was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl after abducting her from the village a few days back. Yesterday police arrested him.
Medical test of the girl confirmed the rape, said Rathod.
"He was facing charges of rape and various offences under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act as the girl was a minor. We learned that Jhala's wife had committed suicide a few years back and he spent 6 to 8 months in jail on the charge of abetting it," said Rathod.
Probe into the suicide is going on, he added.
