Reliance Industries today appointed ex-bureaucrat Maheswar Sahu as an independent director on its board with immediate effect, taking the strength of the board to 14, with eight being non-executive directors.
The 60-year-old Sahu has had a distinguished career and was additional chief secretary for industries and mining with Gujarat, apart from having a decade-old stint at the Centre with the industry and infrastructure departments and three years with the UN.
Sahu holds a degree in electrical engineering and Master's in public administration from the University of Birmingham in England.
