Riot case: Sadhvi Prachi appears in court, framing of charges

A court here today fixed the date for framing of charges against the accused in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots case, including firebrand Hindutva leader Sadhvi Prachi, on December 15.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Madhu Gupta adjourned the hearing on the matter till December 15.

Sadhvi Prachi appeared in the court today.

According to the prosecution, it is alleged that the accused participated at Nangla Madore Mahapanchayat meeting in August, 2013, and stoked violence in the western Uttar Pradesh district.

The communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas in August and September of 2013 had left more than 60 people dead and over 40,000 displaced.
