RLD today suspended two party MPs, Devendra Nagpal and Sarika Devendra Singh Baghel, for anti-party activities and is likely to petition the Lok Sabha Speaker to proceed against them under the anti-defection law.

RLD sources said Nagpal, Amroha MP, and Baghel, who represents Hathras, were suspended by party president Ajit Singh for indulging in anti-party activities.

Singh has written to the two MPs asking them to clarify their stand on the charges. He has given them a week to reply and if they fail to give a satisfactory answer, the party will move against them in the Lok Sabha under the anti-defection law.

The two leaders have been speaking against RLD and their proximity to Samajwadi Party has grown in the last one year. Baghel has reportedly been declared the SP candidate from Agra reserved constituency for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the RLD said.

Nagpal had shared the dais with SP leaders at programmes of the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh. The two have spoken against RLD and its chief. They have not denied reports in the media which quoted them speaking against the party.
