Sarpanch booked for misusing panchayat funds

A sarpanch (village head) was today booked here for allegedly misusing around Rs 62,000 from the panchayat fund.

The case was registered against Hira Singh, Sarpanch of village Enokot, on a complaint by block development officer Paramjit Singh, police said.

In his complaint, Paramjit alleged that the sarpanch misused the grant meant for buying sports kits for village children.
