Three unidentified men allegedly burgled a shanty at Shiv Nagar in suburban Kalina and decamped with valuables worth Rs 4 lakh, police said on Tuesday.
Complainant Alauddin Bagwan's home in Shiv Nagar locality in Kalina, Santacruz (east) was allegedly broken into while the family was away on Monday, an official said.
Bagwan, a driver by profession, was away on duty, while his wife and daughter had gone to attend a wedding in Pune, the official said.
When Bagwan returned home in the early hours of Monday, he saw that the door to his shanty was open and his possessions were scattered around the house, he said, adding that the burglars had stolen cash and jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh, saved for his daughter's wedding, he added.
The Vakola police has registered an offence under sections 457 (house-breaking at night) and 380 (theft) has been registered against unidentified persons, he said.
