The Shiv Sena today flayed the Punjab government for allegedly wasting public money on international Kabaddi Championship.
The Hindu right wing also asked state ministers to pay from their own pockets for this luxury and extravagance.
Sena's state vice-president and spokesman Inderjit Karwal and secretary Gurdip Saini lambasted the government's "unwarranted annual extravagance" on Kabaddi.

They said on one hand Punjab government was unable to pay salaries to its employees, undertake development works and pay pensions to the aged, widows, disabled persons owing to paucity of funds, on the other hand it was squandering away crores of rupees on Kabaddi and Bollywood film stars and others for political mileage.
"Promotion of sports was not bad, but playing politics over the game was bad," they added. The budget for the 4th World Cup Kabaddi is pegged at Rs 20 crore even as the tournament is not recognised by the Kabaddi Federation of India.
