Press Trust of India Coimbatore
: Puthiya Tamizhakam today demanded an inquiry by a sitting judge of Madras High Court, into the issue involving Perumal Murugan, author of 'Madhorubhagan,' which was withdrawn from the market after coming under attack by Hindutva and caste outfits.

Terming the entire issue, in which the RDO had called for a meeting on January 13 and allegedly got an unconditional apology from Murugan, as 'Kangaroo Court' (Kattapanchayat), PT President Dr K Krishnasamy said the inquiry should ascertain whether the act of the official has legal sanction or crossed the official limits.

He also said a writer like Murugan should have the mental courage and strength to face all criticism and urged him continue his literary works. PTI NVM

The novel revolves around the travails of a childless couple and also deals with consensual sex between any man and any childless woman to conceive during the annual temple car festival at Tiruchengode.

Hindutva supporters and caste outfits had strongly objected to such aspects of the novel.
