Soyabean output at around 69 lakh tons in kharif season: SOPA

Soyabean production is expected to be lower at 69.29 lakh tons than earlier estimate of 74 lakh tons in kharif season, Soyabean Processors Association of India said today.

The mid-term review of the oil year (October-September) points out that the harvest is going to be around 69.29 lakh tons, Association's Executive Director D N Pathak said.

He said soyabean was sown in an area of 110.65 lakh hectares during the 2015 kharif season.

Looking at arrival of soyabean in wholesale markets and processing plants for crushing in Maharashtra, the output is going to be 22 lakh tons in the state against earlier estimate of 26.5 lakh tons in Maharashtra, he said.
