"Vacation" directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan M Goldstein are reportedly in early talks to pen the script for the untitled new Spider-Man movie.

Daley and Goldstein were previously linked to the rebooted franchise when their names appeared among contenders for the directing gig. The job eventually went to Jon Watts, whose director credits include "Clown" and "Cop Car", reported Ace Showbiz.

As for Daley and Goldstein, they make their directorial debut with the upcoming "National Lampoon's Vacation" reboot, "Vacation", which they also wrote and will open in US theatres on July 29.

They previously also worked on "Horrible Bosses", its sequel "Horrible Bosses 2", and "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone".

The new Spider-Man movie has tapped Tom Holland to play the webslinger. The story will center on Peter Parker in his high school years. In the upcoming movie, he has already been bitten by the radioactive spider so his origin story won't be addressed again. It eyes a July 28, 2017 release.
