The Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) thumped Army XI

5-0 to lift the Dolo-650 Bangalore Cup All India Hockey Tournament 2019 here on Sunday.

Sumit Kumar (20th minute), Gurjinder Singh (24th), Yuvraj Walmiki (35th), Dharamvir Singh (37th) and Talwinder Singh (52nd) scored for the winners.

It was IOCL's second title in a fortnight. They had earlier won the Bangalore Super Division.

Meanwhile, Hockey Karnataka also felicitated former India goalkeeper Manuel Frederick after he was recommended for the Major Dhyan Chand Award for lifetime achievement on Saturday.

Frederick, 71, was honoured during the half-time of the title encounter by AB Subbaiah, secretary general of Hockey Karnataka at the Field Marshal KM Cariappa Hockey Arena here.

Frederick was part of the Indian team that won a bronze medal at the Munich Olympics in 1972.

"It is very kind of Hockey Karnataka to felicitate me in front of the hockey-loving Bengaluru spectators. I was emotionally touching to see many of them giving me a standing ovation," said Frederick.
