Zinc prices moved up by 0.38 per cent to Rs 158.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in June traded higher by 60 paise, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 158.90 per kg, in a business turnover of 1,158 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July was up by 55 paise, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 159.40 per kg in 16 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mainly influenced zinc prices at futures trade.
