State to roll out digital ration card : Bengal Food Minister

West Bengal Minister for Food and Supplies Jyotipriya Mallik today said digital ration card will be introduced all over the state in future.

Mallik, who held a high level meeting with officials of food and labour department and Tea Board representatives here, said the government has the plan to make the rationing system transparent.

The government wished to abolish the APL and BPL categories in long run, Mallik said.

About reports in a section of media recently about three starvation deaths in Nageswar Tea Gardens ibn Malbazar area of Alipurduar district, the minister claimed the deaths were caused by other reasons and termed the reports as fabricated.
