A delegation of stock brokers of Delhi today requested the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to waive off the payment of retrospective stamp duty on proprietary trading and also to lower the stamp duty charges.
Kejriwal assured the delegation that it won't be charged in retrospect for the registered brokers and asked the unregistered brokers to get themselves registered.
Agreeing on registration of non-registered brokers, the delegation said that they would issue a circular to all members of the association to get registered.

"Brokers who are supposed to pay the duty and are not paying must be penalised. We will ask all the brokers to register themselves," said a member of the delegation during a meeting at Delhi Secretariat.
The government will give a time frame for those brokers who are not registered to get them registered, failing which, they would be charged in retrospect since 2010.
Citing the benefits in some states, the delegation requested lowering of the stamp duty on proprietary trading.
Kejriwal said that he would get it examined and also sought suggestion on how to make Delhi a Financial hub.
