Subsidy for construction of houses to poor increased: govt

The subsidy had been increased from Rs 28,500 to Rs 48,500, Social Justice Minister Saveen Choudhry said at a function in Durgela.
Meanwhile, at another function, in Kundian, state Food Minister Ramesh Dhwala said that modern gymnasiums would be constructed in buildings of panchayats and municipal councils in Kangra district.
"All panchayat and municipal councils shall be given gymnasium facility, so that the power of the youth can be channelised," he said, adding that Rs 50,000 has been sanctioned for this purpose to each unit.
Panchayat buildings in the district will be given a "modern look," and Rs 8 crore will be spent for such repairs and Rs 3 crore will be spent on new buildings where these are required, he also said.
At another meeting, in Mandal, Industrial Minister Kishan Kapoor said that the road from Gaggal airport to Mecleodganj was being renovated at a cost of Rs 11 crore.
