Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik from Odisha is all set to represent India in Taiwan World Sand Sculpting Championship, to be held at Taiwan from April 25.
Pattnaik is the only sand artist chosen from India by the selection committee for the prestigious championship slated to end on May 2.
Happy over his selection, Sudarsan said artists from ten countries would participate in the championship.
The countries participating in the championship are the US, Ireland, Canada, Russia, Nederland, Spain, Czech Republic, Togo and India, he said.
Artists will create 4m high sand sculpture in eight days.
Sudarsan said he will carve a sculpture on climate change. "As you know the earth is facing global warming. Therefore, I have decided to spread a message about climate change through my sand sculpture," he said.
Recently Sudarsan was selected for the Padma Shri award. He has participated in more than 50 International sand sculpture championships and festivals around the world and won many prizes for the country.
