Sugar falls on higher supply, low demand

Sugar prices drifted at the wholesale market in the national capital today due to higher supplies from millers against lower demand.

Marketmen said adequate stocks position following higher supplies from producing belts amid lower demand mainly kept pressure on the sweetener.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 eased to Rs 2,710-2,920 and Rs 2,700-2,910 against last close of Rs 2,730-2,950 and Rs 2,720-2,910 per quintal, respectively.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 slipped to Rs 2,610-2,780 and Rs 2,600-2,750 from previous levels of Rs 2,610-2,800 and Rs 2,600-2,770 per quintal, respectively.

In the millgate section, Mawana, Kinnoni and Asmoli were down to Rs 2,635, Rs 2,780 and Rs 2,710 as compared to previous close of Rs 2,650, Rs 2,800 and Rs 2,790 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 31.00-34.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,710-2,920 S-30 Rs 2,700-2,910.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,610-2,780 S-30 Rs 2,600-2,750.
