Odisha Governor S C Jamir today administered oath to state's seniormost legislator V Sugnana Kumari Deo as the protem Speaker of the Assembly.
Deo, a ten-time MLA of the BJD, took oath at the Raj Bhavan here in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other ministers.
A member of the Khalikote Royal family, Deo was first elected to the state Legislative Assembly in 1961. This time she won the elections from Kabisurya Nagar Assembly segment in Ganjam district.

Deo has been a MLA of the 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and now 15th Assembly. She will administer the oath of office to the newly-elected members in the state Assembly on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, the election to the office of the Speaker of the new Assembly is likely to be held on Monday, sources said.
