An Air Force helicopter, carrying External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, failed to land here today due to bad weather, an official said.

Swaraj, accompanied by Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (rtd) V K Singh, was coming by an Air Force helicopter to the state capital to inaugurate a Passport Seva Kendra when the pilots encountered severe foggy conditions and the chopper was forced to return, Defence Spokesperson Amit Mahajan said.

He said the chopper had a safe landing at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.

The ministers were lodged at the VIP lounge at the Guwahati airport, but they did not like a second attempt as Swaraj had other engagements in the national capital, he said.
