Tarun Gogoi visits venues of South Asian Games

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today visited different stadia at Sarusajai Sports Complex and other venues and took stock of the preparation and ancillary facilities for the 12th South Asian Games to be held here from February 6 to 16.

Gogoi's visit was as a part of a series of steps he has taken to streamline the available sports infrastructure and facilities in the state, officials said.

Accompanied by senior officials, Gogoi visited Dr Jakir Hussain Aquatic Complex, Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium, Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Bhetapara Hockey Stadium and the Shooting Range at 4th APBN, Kahilipara.

Reviewing the facilities in place and the work being done, Gogoi instructed the authority concerned to complete the last minute preparations for the games.
 

He also expressed satisfaction over the steps being taken for putting up state-of-the-art venues for the South Asian Games.

On the security issue for the Games, Gogoi said the matter has been taken up with the Centre and the Government has assured him of full-proof security for the games.
