Tata Motors today reported 1 per cent rise in sales to 53,057 units in March.
The company sold 52,479 vehicles in the same month last year.
Domestic sales of Tata Motors' commercial and passenger vehicles declined by 1 per cent to 46,701 units during the month as against 47,044 units sold in March, 2015.
Sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market fell by 44 per cent to 8,454 units in March as against 15,039 units in the same month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement.
As for passenger cars, the sales declined by 47 per cent at 6,876 units in March compared with same period last year.
In the commercial vehicles segment, the company's domestic sales stood at 38,247 units, up 20 per cent, from March 2015, the company said.
Exports during the month stood at 6,356 units as against 5,435 units in March 2015, up 17 per cent.
