Tax officer in ACB net for receiving Rs 1.5 lakh bribe

A deputy commercial tax officer was arrested today for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh in Anantapur district.

T Ramesh Kumar Reddy, working at Commercial Tax Check Post at Gooty, was caught red-handed by sleuths of the Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) when he demanded and accepted the sum from complainant D Hanumaiah for freeing his transport vehicle, according to an official release.

The accused officer will be produced before the ACB court at Kurnool, it said.
